The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season got off to a promising start in March, with newly assembled teams fighting it out for the coveted trophy.
Teams went all out in the mega auction earlier this year to cover all bases and built some strong squads.
However, some players have, unfortunately, suffered injuries which have forced them out of action in IPL 2022.
Here, we look at the players that missed a few matches or are still injured.
IPL 2022: Player injuries list
Jofra Archer – Mumbai Indians
England pacer Jofra Archer was picked up by Mumbai Indians at the mega auction for a whopping INR 8 crore despite being injured. The Englishman continues to recover from an elbow injury and will miss out the entire season. He is expected to join the team in IPL 2023.
Deepak Chahar – Chennai Super Kings
Another high-profile name in the IPL 2022 player injury list is speedster Deepak Chahar. He was picked up by Chennai Super Kings for INR 14 crore at the auction.
Deepak Chahar had already missed the beginning of IPL 2022 with a quadricep injury, but his return was pushed further ahead after he suffered a back injury during rehab.
It remains doubtful if he would take the field this season for the Men in Yellow.
Mark Wood – Lucknow Super Giants
Although Lucknow Super Giants shelled out INR 7.5 crore for fast bowler Mark Wood, he wouldn’t take part in IPL 2022 following an elbow injury at the beginning of March.
LSG replaced the English pacer with Australia’s Andrew Tye for INR 1 crore.
Mitchell Marsh – Delhi Capitals
Australian express pacer Mitchell Marsh, who was signed by Delhi Capitals for INR 6.5 crore, has missed the first few games for the side after sustaining a hip injury in March.
Marsh continues his rehabilitation in the Capitals’ camp but his comeback to the pitch remains uncertain.
Anrich Nortje – Delhi Capitals
Another express pacer that has sat out the first few games for Delhi Capitals is South Africa’s Anrich Nortje.
The pace spearhead, who was out with hip and back woes, had returned to the squad for the match against Lucknow Super Giants but only bowled 2.2 overs before the ball was taken away from him abruptly.
Anrich Nortje was dropped in the next game for reasons unknown.
Suryakumar Yadav – Mumbai Indians
One of Mumbai Indians’ four retained players, Suryakumar Yadav missed the initial matches of IPL 2022 with a hairline fracture on his thumb.
The star batter has returned with full force, smashing 52, 68 not out and 43 in his three matches. However, five-time champions Mumbai Indians are yet to win a game this season.
Meanwhile, Alex Hales (Kolkata Knight Riders) and Jason Roy (Gujarat Titans) have pulled out of IPL 2022 citing bubble fatigue.
Rasikh Salam – Kolkata Knight Riders
The latest entrant in the IPL 2022 player injuries list is KKR pacer Rasikh Salam, who is sidelined with a back injury. He had played two matches this season but was yet to pick a wicket.
The Knight Riders have signed Delhi fast bowler Harshit Rana as the replacement for Rasikh Salam for the remainder of the season.
