The summer transfer window has officially opened for business. Football players can now sign for other clubs once the two clubs involved agree on a transfer fee for the player and the player agrees on personal terms with the new club. If the player is not contracted with any club, he can sign for the new club without them having to pay a transfer fee.

Diego Costa joins Wolves
Former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has completed his move back to the Premier League after signing a one-year deal with Wolves. Costa has won the Premier League twice during his stint with Chelsea.
“A serial winner with a wealth of experience at the highest level, Diego will bring something unique to our dressing room and on the pitch,” said Wolves chairman Jeff Shi after the transfer was made official on September 12, 2022.
Chelsea sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Zakaria
Chelsea have agreed on a €14 million transfer fee with Spanish giants FC Barcelona for the transfer of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the Premier League club. The deal also involves Marcos Alonso going the other way round to feature for the La Liga club. Aubameyang has signed a two-year deal with the Blues with an option to extend for a further year.
Chelsea have also announced the signing of Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria on a season-long loan. The Blues have a £30 million buy option clause, which can be triggered at the end of the season to permanently sign Zakaria.
Hector Bellerin moves to FC Barcelona
Hector Bellerin has agreed to a one-year contract with FC Barcelona with no extension option. The Spanish right-back and Arsenal terminated his contract with the London-based club by mutual consent.
Manchester City sign Manuel Akanji
The defending Premier League champions have bolstered their centre-back options after the transfer of Manuel Akanji from Borussia Dortmund for a €17 million transfer fee. The 27-year-old signed on a five-year deal, which keeps him with the Citizens until the summer of 2027. Akanji will wear the no.25 jersey in all competitions this season.
Antony signs for Manchester United
Manchester United have completed the transfer of Brazilian winger Antony from Ajax. The clubs have agreed on an Eredivise-record €100 million transfer fee for the player’s move to the Premier League club. Antony has signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils, with an option to extend until 2028.
Wesley Fofana moves to Chelsea
Chelsea have made their third defensive signing of the season after the transfer of Wesley Fofana from Leicester City. The centre-back has signed a seven-year contract with the Blues. A final transfer fee of £75 million was agreed between the two Premier League clubs.
Everton sign striker Neal Maupay
Everton have signed striker Neal Maupay on a three-year deal for a reported €20 million transfer fee. The Blue will also have an option to add another year to his contract. In 109 appearances, Maupay has made a contribution of 28 goals and eight assists for Brighton.
Alexander Isak completes Newcastle United switch
Newcastle United have successfully completed the transfer of Swedish international striker Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad. The two clubs agreed on a €65 million transfer fee along with €5 million add-ons, a club-record transfer fee for the Magpies, for Isak’s move to the Premier League club. The deal also includes a sell-on clause for Real Sociedad.
Manchester United sign Casemiro
Manchester United have completed the signing of midfielder Casemiro from Real Madrid. The Brazilian has agreed to a four-year deal with an option to extend his stay at Old Trafford. Manchester United and Real Madrid agreed on a €70m (€60m fixed + €10m addons) transfer fee for the player’s move to the Premier League club.
Eric Bailly joins Marseille on loan
Ivory Coast and Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has signed for Ligue 1 side Marseille, on loan from the Red Devils, for the 2022-23 season. Bailly failed to cement a starting position for himself in Erik Ten Hag’s plans at the Premier League club and pursued the move away with the intention of playing more matches. Marseille qualifies for the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League, they can trigger a permanent buy option for the defender.
Matheus Nunes signs for Wolverhampton
Premier League club Wolverhampton have completed the signing of Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes from Sporting Lisbon for a reported €50m transfer fee (€45m fixed + €5m addons). The transfer breaks the Wolves’ previous record fee, €41m, paid for Fabio Silva in 2020. Nunes has signed a five-year deal with Wolves with an option to extend for a further year. The 23-year-old was named in the Primeira Liga Team of the Year for 2021-22.
RB Leipzig re-sign striker Timo Werner
The Bundesliga club RB Leipzig have completed the signing of Timo Werner from Chelsea for a €30m transfer fee. The German previously had four successful seasons at Leipzig, scoring 28 goals in his final Bundesliga season, before moving to the London club for a €53m transfer fee. Werner has signed a four-year deal with Leipzig.
Isco signs for Sevilla sign on free transfer
Former Real Madrid midfielder Isco has signed for La Liga rivals Sevilla on August 8 2022. His contract with the Los Blancos ended in June 2022, having won five UEFA Champions League titles with the club. Isco has agreed to a two-year contract with Sevilla and becomes their third signing of the summer, following Marcao from Galatasaray and Alex Telles from Manchester United.
RB Leipzig sign Benjamin Sesko
One of Bundesliga’s top clubs, RB Leipzig, have come to an agreement with Benjamin Sesko and his club, RB Salzburg, for the Slovakian striker’s move to the German club. Sesko will join the Leipzig at the end of the 2022/23 season. The striker has signed a five-year deal with the German club.
Chelsea complete the signing of Marc Cururella
The Spanish left wing-back Marc Cururella has completed his move to Chelsea after the London club agreed to a reported £63m transfer fee with Brighton & Hove Albion. Cururella was the player of the season at Brighton last season. The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a six-year contract with Chelsea.
Manchester United’s Alex Telles joins Sevilla on loan
The signing of Tyrell Malacia triggered a loan move for fellow left-back Alex Telles, who has now joined Sevilla on a season-long loan. Telles will return back to the Red Devils after the end of the 2022/23 season. The Portuguese player was signed by Man United in 2020 from FC Porto.
English winger Dwight McNeil signs for Everton
Everton agreed on a £19 million transfer fee with Burnley for winger Dwight McNeil. The Englishman agreed on personal terms with a five-year contract after a conversation with Everton manager Frank Lampard.
Reports: Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United set for transfer talks
Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo is set to meet manager Erik Ten Hag as the Portuguese star looks for a transfer. Ronaldo is reportedly interested in joining FC Bayern but Manchester United have been clear with their stance of not selling the striker in this window.
Nordi Mukiele signs for Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have announced the signing of fullback Nordi Mukiele for a combined €16 million transfer fee. He becomes the third signing of the summer and has signed a contract with the French giants until June 2027.
Reports: FC Barcelona close to signing Jules Kounde from Sevilla
France and Sevilla defender Jules Kounde has agreed on personal terms with Spanish giants FC Barcelona. The Catalan club are also reportedly close to agreeing on a transfer fee with Sevilla. Chelsea are also interested in the player but according to Fabrizio Romano, the player prefers FC Barcelona.
Mumbai City FC announce the signing of Greg Stewart
The Islanders have completed the signing of the 2021/22 ISL ‘Hero of the Season’ Greg Stewart. Mumbai City FC sign the Scottish midfielder on a two-year deal. Stewart scored 10 goals and made 10 assists in the last Indian Super League (ISL) season. He was a part of the Rangers team that won the Scottish Premiership in the 2021/21 season.
Roy Krishna signs with Bengaluru FC
Fiji International and ex-ATK Mohun Bagan forward Roy Krishna has signed with Bengaluru FC on a two-year deal ahead of the 2022-23 Indian Super League (ISL) season. The 34-year-old has 36 goals and 18 assists in his ISL career. He becomes the sixth signing for the Blues ahead of the new campaign.
Arsenal sign Oleksandr Zinchenko
Arsenal have agreed on a £30 million plus add-on deal with Manchester City for the transfer of Ukrainian left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko. The player has agreed on personal terms with the club. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has previously worked with Zinchenko and convinced the player to choose the London-based club over Everton.
Matthijs de Ligt signs for FC Bayern
Juventus and FC Bayern have agreed to a net transfer fee of around €80 million for Matthijs de Ligt. The Dutch international has already agreed on a five-year deal with the defending Bundesliga champions.

Manchester United have announced the signing of Lisandro Martinez from Ajax for a €65 million net transfer fee (€55 million fixed + €10 million add-ons). The Argentine defender has agreed on a five-year deal until June 2027 with an option to extend for another year. Martinez was Ajax’s player of the year last season.
Robert Lewandowski completes FC Barcelona move
FC Barcelona have completed the transfer of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski for a €45 million transfer fee plus €5 million add-ons. Lewandowski’s salary will be around €9 million net per season. He scored 348 goals in 384 matches for FC Bayern.
Chelsea complete Kalidou Koulibaly transfer
Chelsea have confirmed the transfer of defender Kalidou Koulibaly for a €40 million net transfer fee. The Senegalese international has signed a four-year deal with the club until June 2026. Chelsea had previously made an attempt to sign Koulibaly in the summer of 2016.
Christian Eriksen signs for Manchester United
Christian Eriksen has agreed to a deal with Manchester United to sign with the club until June 2025. The Danish international was a free agent after his short stint at Brentford in the Premier League last season. Eriksen becomes Man United’s second signing of the summer.

England winger Raheem Sterling has signed for Chelsea for a reported £45 million transfer fee. He put pen to paper on a five-year deal until June 2027 with an option to extend for a further season. Sterling becomes the first signing of the new Chelsea ownership lead by Todd Boehly.

FC Barcelona have completed the signing of Raphinha from Leeds United. The fixed fee is €58 million and could rise up to €68 million with add-ons. The Brazilian has signed for the Catalan giants on a five-year deal.
Cristiano Ronaldo NOT for sale: Erik Ten Hag
Manchester United’s new manager Erik Ten Hag has insisted that the club will not sell Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Ronaldo is in our plans. He’s not with us due to personal issues,” said Ten Hag in the pre-season press conference. “How to make Cristiano happy? I don’t know! I’m looking forward to work with him,” added the Dutch manager.
Reports: Ajax win the race to sign Owen Wijndal
Ajax are set to announce the signing of Dutch international Owen Wijndal from AZ. The 22-year-old left-back will sign a contract with the Eredivisie defending champions until June 2027. Juventus and Tottenham were among the clubs interested in signing Wijndal.
Juventus re-sign Paul Pogba
French midfielder Paul Pogba re-joins Juventus in Serie A after he left the club for Manchester United in 2016. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman has a salary of €8 million per season. He has agreed on a four-year deal with the club and the transfer has been made official on July 11. Paul Pogba was released by Manchester United earlier in this transfer window.

Premier League club Wolves have reportedly agreed on personal terms with Burnley centre-back Nathan Collins. £20 million bid price tag from Burnley is set to be met by the Premier League club and the transfer will be completed later this week after the medical.
