“Fans come to the stadiums to see such players. It’s great that our board led by Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic have managed to sign a player like Sadio Mane for FC Bayern,” Hainer added.

I want to achieve a lot at FC Bayern: Sadio Mane

Sadio Mane expressed his happiness after successfully completing the long-drawn transfer saga.

“We spoke a lot and I felt big interest from this great club right from the beginning, so for me there were no doubts,” Mane said. “It’s the right time for this challenge. I want to achieve a lot with this club, in Europe too.

“During my time in Salzburg I watched a lot of Bayern games – I really like this club!” he added.

After leaving Senegal at the age of 19, Sadio Mane joined Metz in France. Successful spells at RB Leipzig and Southampton saw him make a mark as a world-class talent.

The Senegalese forward had a successful six-year career at Liverpool where he won six trophies, among which was the coveted Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League. He scored 120 goals and 38 assists in his time at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp celebrated Sadio Mane’s achievements at Liverpool. “He is a machine. What he has done for this club and continues to do puts him in the bracket of ‘legend’!” said the 55-year-old German.

Along with his achievements at Liverpool, Mane also won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019 along with the CAF African Player of the Year trophy.

The signing of Sadio Mane will bolster FC Bayern’s bid for an 11th Bundesliga title in a row. They will also hope that the signing will help them take a step forward in the UEFA Champions League.
